Tanning Lotions
If you're going to be using a tanning bed, then you also need to buy yourself some tanning bed lotion cream. There are several available, and most of them use tyrosine as a main ingredient. Tyrosine is a type of amino acid, and its main function is to stimulate the production of melanin. Melanin is the pigment that is responsible for the color of your skin.
Manufacturers often include Vitamin E as an ingredient in their tanning bed lotions, because of its well-known antioxidant properties. Vitamin E is helpful, because it's very good at reducing the formation of fine lines and wrinkles on the skin.
Tanning Lotions
Copper is another popular ingredient. If you have scars or other tiny blemishes on your skin, then choose a tanning lotion that contains copper. It won't remove them, but it certainly does a good job of reducing their harshness.
There's one ingredient which is included in all tanning bed lotions in large amounts - moisturizer. This has two purposes. Firstly, it helps make the lotion easy to apply, which helps ensure you get a uniform tan. Moisturizer also nourishes the skin, and helps stop it getting dry or chapped. It also to some extent helps to screen the skin from the damaging effects of the ultraviolet rays produced by the tanning bed. If the moisturizer is based on natural ingredients such as hempseed oil or aloe vera, it will help to keep the skin supple.
It's important to choose your tanning lotion or cream based on the type of skin you have. Choosing the right cream means you'll receive the maximum benefit from using it. You also need to think about what kind of tanning you want. Do you want a quick tan? In that case you might want to buy a lotion that is said to contain a tan accelerator. Other creams are also more suited to replacing the skin moisture lost in the tanning process. Others are mainly geared towards protecting your from the ultraviolet rays.
The smell of the cream or lotion is also important. Just because you love the smell of cappuccino, someone else might hate it! Popular varieties include cappuccino, chocolate and lime pie. To use the creams as effectively as possible, apply them liberally, and then spread them gently until you have an even coverage that blends with the skin.
